What is Bondfire?

Bondfire is a not-for-profit startup founded with the purpose of paying it forward through education. Our main goals are to help bridge the gap between school and college, and shape the next generation of Malaysians into self-driven and ever-ready young adults.

<aside> 🌏 How do you do that?

We match experienced professionals like you with students based on their goals and career interests (and yours!) to promote the sharing of challenges and experiences so that we can give them guidance without having to learn everything the hard way.

Students participate in this virtual programme for 4 months during which they will not only interact with their mentors, but the other mentors and mentees as well. During the programme, additional activities/workshops are also held to expose students to key topics/soft skills such as critical thinking, giving presentations, work-life balance, etc.

How can I make an impact?

Regardless of who or where we are today, every one of us has had unique and valuable experiences. Each of which we learnt a lesson from, and shaped us to becoming better versions of ourselves today.

Throughout our journey, whether we realised it or not, there were definitely a few people that helped and mentored us. They gave us the extra push we needed and were there for moral support.

Mentors play a very important role in our lives, one that we sometimes take for granted. So just as your mentors have played their role in your successes, wouldn’t it be nice to pay it forward to help the next generation Malaysians do the same?

Requirements

Minimum Criteria

👩‍🎓  College / university graduate (or significant work experience)

💼  Minimum 2 years of working experience

⏰  Can commit a minimum of 1 hour / week

💬  Openness to sharing your personal experience with others

🎮  Willingness to actively participate in the programme and events

Preferred

🎓  Have fresh experience with graduating college and manoeuvring your first job or a job change

🎒  Experience working with teens / young adults

👂  Counselling skills including active listening and a non-judgmental approach

🧑🏽‍🎨  Are in an industry/career path that is in high demand by our students

What can I expect?

1. When you submit your interest form, we’ll review your application. If you meet the minimum requirements, we’ll schedule an interview to get to know you, and answer any questions or concerns you might have.
2. After the interview, we’ll have a final review and reach back out to you to let you know if you’ll be onboarded.
3. We have an orientation for new and veteran mentors once a year during which you’ll get to connect with amazing individuals like yourself! You’ll also receive a small training kit to help you get started.
4. We will never match you with anyone you are uncomfortable with, you always get a say in who you are matched with.
